Description
ARA-290 represents a synthetic 11-amino acid peptide derived from the tissue-protective domain of erythropoietin, designed to retain cytoprotective properties while eliminating erythropoietic (red blood cell-stimulating) activity. The compound was developed to investigate the tissue-protective effects of erythropoietin independent of its effects on red blood cell production. ARA-290 functions through binding to the innate repair receptor (a heteromeric complex of the erythropoietin receptor and CD131), leading to activation of tissue-protective signaling pathways without stimulating erythropoiesis. The peptide has been studied for its neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and general cytoprotective effects in various research models of tissue injury and disease. Research applications include investigation of tissue protection mechanisms, neuroprotection pathways, cellular repair processes, and the development of tissue-protective strategies independent of erythropoietic effects. For research use only.
